Depth Partitioning and Diel Movement of Two Large Carcharhinid Sharks in Extremely Shallow Waters

چکیده
Two species of carcharhinid sharks aggregate every winter at the warm water effluent a coastal power plant on Israeli Mediterranean coast. The two (Carcharhinus obscurus and Carcharhinus plumbeus) cooccur in highly confined area for several months year are associated with around hot effluent. Niche partitioning has recently been suggested as mechanism that enables coexistence similar shark by resource partitioning, spatial temporal partitioning. In this study, we used acoustic telemetry to study individual diel movement activity patterns within enclosed examined differences between sharing it. Although location only reaches maximum depth 7.5 m, found both perform vertical movement, rising closer surface night moving deeper during daytime. Furthermore, swam different depths day night, C. swimming upper column, about 2 m shallower than plumbeus. very small scale which nearly equals sharks’ body length, suggests might be conserved level. Moreover, spatiotemporal may reflect mean interspecific occurs even shallow habitat.

Observation of two-dimensional Faraday waves in extremely shallow depth.
A family of two-dimensional Faraday waves in extremely shallow depth (1 mm to 2 mm) of absolute ethanol are observed experimentally using a Hele-Shaw cell that vibrates vertically. The same phenomena are not observed by means of water, ethanol solution, and silicone oil. These Faraday waves are quite different from the traditional ones. These phenomena are helpful to deepen and enrich our under...

Seasonal changes in the diel feeding patterns of the zooplanktivorous icefish (Neosalanx taihuensis), which is an endemic species of China, were studied in the large, shallow eutrophic Lake Chaohu of China during the autumn of 2002 and summer of 2003. The results of the diel feeding rhythm indicate that icefish is a visual particulate feeder. There were large differences in diet composition and...

15 صفحه اولLarge–Scale Movement and Reef Fidelity of Grey Reef Sharks
Despite an Indo-Pacific wide distribution, the movement patterns of grey reef sharks (Carcharhinus amblyrhynchos) and fidelity to individual reef platforms has gone largely unstudied. Their wide distribution implies that some individuals have dispersed throughout tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific, but data on large-scale movements do not exist. We present data from nine C. amblyrhynchos monit...
